Chapter Philanthropy

"To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand..." That's the first line of our creed, and as a sorority, it is our priority. We want to give ourselves and our time to reach out where there is a need--in the Birmingham community and on the national level. Our national philanthropy is with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, and we are so lucky that there is a Children's Hospital in Birmingham, as we get to see the tangible results of our work. We send  groups of Phi Mu girls frequently to Children's Hospital of Alabama to play and make crafts with the kids.

However, we don't stop with our national philanthropy. As a chapter, we support two children from the Dominican Republic and Uganda through Compassion Kids International. Our members also take initiative in philanthropies that they are interested in. From mission trips, to Samford Gives Back days, to inner city volunteering, Phi Mu girls are active and passionate about serving others and our lives are richer for it.

In order to also give back financially, each year we hold a major Fall philanthropy event and Spring philanthropy event, as well, as other smaller events throughout the year. This past Fall was our first annual Bonnamu Benefit Concert benefitting CMNH complete with a live band. This coming Spring, we will continue with our chapter's tradition of the annual car wash in April. We conduct a letter-writing campaign, Roses for Riches roses for Valentine's Day, and Pancake breakfast in Ben Brown Plaza on National Pancake Day as well--all which raise funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
