Letter From Recruitment Chair

Hey ladies!

First of all, welcome to the Samford community! Congratulations on becoming a bulldog! I am so excited for you and your time at Samford, and I hope you are thrilled as well! Just two years ago, I was in your shoes, preparing to leave behind everything I had ever known and step into new adventures. Although I always longed for new opportunity, it was very nerve-wracking knowing a season of sudden change was upon me. My first few weeks at Samford were rather slow, with the pandemic putting a halt on all social activity. After being told by my high school community who they thought I should be, it was challenging to have so many potential outlets in college. After going through recruitment, I found my place in Phi Mu.

Since joining Phi Mu, I have been encouraged, supported, and poured into in more ways than you could imagine. The women of this chapter have encouraged me in my walk with Christ, engaging in hard conversations of accountability The women of this chapter have given me space to grow, mature, and lead, teaching me skills that set me up for success in my endeavours, and will continue to do so after college. Phi Mu has taught me to serve wholeheartedly, love fully, live selflessly, and strive for excellence in the slightest of details. The women of this chapter walk with me through every trial and celebration all the same. My favorite thing about Phi Mu is its consistent desire to honor Christ. This value causes each woman of our fraternity to strive for a better version of themselves, creating better friendship, service, and community within our chapter.

We are so excited to meet you this fall and cannot wait to get to know you. Until then, rest in the season The Lord has you in. Enjoy your summer, family, friends, and just be where your feet are planted. Trust that The Lord has intended prosperity for you in this moment. We are thinking of and praying for each of you. We are honored to get to help you find your “home away from home” here at Samford, whether in Phi Mu or elsewhere, we care for you regardless!

Kindly,

Anna-Hope Bigham
